This Friction Loss Calculator, or sometimes referred to as Line Loss Calculator, is meant to calculate the pressure drop caused by friction of a fluid moving through a pipeline. It is not intended to be used for highly complex friction loss calculations, but rather to give a quick, reasonably accurate estimate of the friction loss in simple piping systems. Hazen Williams, Darcy Weisbach and Fanning Churchhill are all commonly used methods to calculate friction loss. Hazen Williams in generally the most conservative method as well as the most common method, so Power Zone uses and recommends this method of calculating friction loss above the other two methods.

Note: Calculating friction loss in a pipe system can be complicated. This line loss / friction loss calculator is intended to be a basic tool for estimating friction losses in simple piping systems.
